THE SMILE AWARDS

2024 Season Awards

It was great to see many of the Montserrat Events volunteers come together for the end of season wrap up social evening held at Caffe Lee - Cafe/Bar last night where there was an open bar for the majority of the evening and an ‘American Supper’ style food for all to enjoy.

The volunteers heard from Jonathan give a synopsis of the years events, together with a business update and the plans for 2025, which look really exciting;, he also thanked all the volunteers for their support and hard work and explained how integral they were to the delivery of the events.

The evening saw the presentation of first ‘Smile Awards’ to three worthy winners who were:

  • Mrs Maddison being presented the ‘Notable Effort Award’

  • Sue Goldsmith being presented the ‘Organisational Excellence Award’

  • Kate Webb being presented the ‘Peers Choice Award’

That’s Montserrat now finished for 2024 and what great year of events we have delivered; we now look forward to 2025 with some exciting news to be announced soon.  We start again in January with our monthly planning & volunteer meetings held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

See what Kate has to say about being a volunteer...

"I am a volunteer at Montserrat Events and every time I take part at an event, everyone is super welcoming and brings a positive energy which makes my experience more enjoyable.

The events are well organised, structured and fun and the camaraderie within the team is great. Being part of Montserrat has given me a sense of accomplishment, pride and self-confidence. In the 3 years that I have been volunteering, I have developed new skills and gained valuable experience.

Everyone is helpful, inspiring and encourages me to voice my ideas and suggestions. There's nothing more rewarding than giving back to your community and making a difference in people’s lives which I believe embodies what Montserrat does best."

Kate Webb.

JOIN OUR CREW

Come and be part of our event crew.  We have many local residents who are already helping with the events bit there's always room for more to come and be part of the team,

Our Event Crew known either as ‘makers/helpers/volunteers play a vital role in helping to create a successful day for everyone involved.

Volunteering at an event is a fun and rewarding time out, it’s a great way to meet other people and be part of a fantastic team. It is fun and flexible and just a few hours can make a huge difference.

At our events we need skills such as planning, organisation, operational and marshalling amongst others.

We hold planning and wrap up meetings where the team comes together to share ideas and feedback and thoughts on how best to deliver the events. More importantly these meetings provide a social setting to come together and make new friendships.

In return, you will be part of a fantastic team who have fun and an enthusiastic sense of work ethic delivering the smile for the community.

We are looking for fun and friendly volunteers who:
